The one thing we need to start off with is this: pinkies up, y’all. Pinkies up.

Hi everyone, I’m Joshua Miller, and welcome to my YouTube channel. And because style is my favorite subject, today I want to talk about the new KATSEYE song “PINKY UP” and their 2026 Weekend 1 Coachella performance.

So without further ado, let’s get into it.

So right away when the music video opened, I was like—they look incredible, you know? Daniela… look at this outfit. Fire. Fire. She looks incredible. I love all of the different prints here. I love the asymmetrical gloves. It’s shocking. It’s shocking is what it is. And if there’s anything that KATSEYE knows how to do, it’s consistently shock people and get people to talk about them.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people call back to the comparison between “PINKY UP” and “JUMP” by BLACKPINK, and I think that’s a great comparison. They both kind of have that Danny L Harle, four-on-the-floor drum beat, and it just pulls you in.

And the other thing that I really love about the instrumental is that it uses syncopation a lot. The whole instrumental is built on that tension between on the beat, off the beat, on the beat, off the beat—and it just pulls you into this kind of melodic, temporal current, and you just can’t pull away from the song.

I’m a fan. I’m an EYEKON. What can I say?

So then going into their Coachella performance, I was so excited. When that camera turned on and the spotlight hit them and we saw all of their outfits—I gasped. I truly did gasp. I was like, “Holy crap, do they look incredible.”

And I really like that their outfits were an extension of the style and fashion of “PINKY UP.” They were like, “No—we’re going to lean into this, and we are going to own the direction that we see this group going, and we are going to give it to all of you whether you want it or not.”

And guess what? We wanted it.

But I think what really grabbed my eye in this performance was the feature with HUNTR/X. To see them included in this moment of KATSEYE’s Coachella performance—it felt kind of like a passing of the torch.

And it also showed the audience, like—no, no, no, no. Just because they’re using autotune, that doesn’t mean they can’t sing. Just because they’re saying “eat zucchini,” that doesn’t mean they can’t sing. And that eight-part harmony—you couldn’t refute that. It was beautiful.

I hope that in their future performances, we get more a cappella singing from them. I think that’s something that would really help them show audiences, like—hey, we are artists. Yeah, we’re performers, but we’re also musicians.

And I was proud. I was proud of them. We all know what people are saying about them. We all know the pressure that goes into being an idol, and I feel like they really rose to the occasion.

I’m really excited for the direction that they’re heading in. I just want the best for them, and I think this performance went just as well as I hoped it would.

So there you have my thoughts on KATSEYE’s new single “PINKY UP” and their 2026 Weekend 1 Coachella performance.
